Dupont is a rural community within the small town of Seymour, Tennessee, within Sevier County, Tennessee, in the eastern division of the State of Tennessee, United States.
   Dupont got its name from Dew Point. In many cases, cool air will pool in a valley and push the lighter warmer air up the mountain side, in this case the east end of Bluff Mountain of the Chilhowee Mountain range. Since the ground at the higher altitude doesn't get chilled to the dew point, often no dew would form. The National Weather Service calls this an inversion.
   Early settlers within the Dupont Community were: Gibson, Graves, Latham, Reagan, Rogers and Thomas. Dupont has had many prominent and successful community activists. One of the most prominent members of the community is the late Judge Ray L. Reagan, who served as Sevier County judge for 20 years.
   Dupont Baptist Church, which began in the old Pickens School House, was founded in 1907 and still exists today. The old Pickens School House was later renamed Dupont School and was used as a 1st through 8th grade school until 1970. The schoolhouse was renamed and refurbished as the Dupont Community Center. Firehall Number Three of the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department is located next door to the Dupont Community Center.
